Housing Officer

Positive Employment is currently recruiting for Housing Officers to work for our client based in Southwark.

The successful candidate will support senior staff in providing resident led neighbourhood services; maintaining a high quality physical environment and a resident focused customer friendly service.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Estate inspections; identifying issues and pursuing actions within clients procedures
  • Responding to tenant’s (or prospective tenant’s) enquiries including lettings, applications, rents, repairs, neighbour complaints, etc. At a level which uses knowledge of housing management functions and regulations
  • General administration relating to tenant’s meetings, interviews, and property viewing
  • A comprehensive tenancy and leasehold management and enforcement service, participating in the consistent and forceful application of Southwark’s policies and procedures to ensure residents are able to live in an enjoyable environment
  • Providing support on the management on void properties
  • Work with vulnerable residents to ensure their needs are met through the housing service and to provide a signposting service for residents with additional support needs to partner departments within the council and agencies outside of the council
  • Maintaining housing related databases; produce reports and statistics related to the functions allocated

Requirements:

Knowledge of:

  • relevant legislation and regulation
  • equality and diversity issues
  • health and safety practices
  • tenancy and leasehold management principles

Experience:

  • In a customer facing role, ideally in a social housing field
  • Dealing with conflict
  • Drafting correspondence, information and reports to a high standard using appropriate technology
  • Of organising and prioritising a workload, managing conflicting demands
  • Using Microsoft office and using a wide range of office equipment and ICT software
  • Undertaking a variety of administrative and financial tasks in a structured environment to support the delivery of services

Working hours: 09:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday

Rate: £13.50 umbrella

This is a Temporary role but could possibly become permanent
