Occupational Therapist (Level 3) – £22.29 – £27.77 per hour
We are currently recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist to assist our client in Redbridge and North East London to fulfil their duties and responsibilities in relation to The Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberties, Safeguarding and all other appropriate legislation.

Role purpose and role dimensions:

  • Undertake complex, holistic person-centred assessments, support planning and review of people with a range of health conditions and their carers, working within a multi-disciplinary framework
  • Expect understanding of legal social care framework and all relevant policies and procedures
  • Undertake Mental Capacity assessments and develop an understanding of the best Interest Assessments
  • Provide a person-centred service which enables people to optimise and maximise their abilities by utilising a straight-based model and whole family approach to all interventions
  • Support people to maintain their independence, within their homes and by utilising support in the local community and their own personal networks
  • To pro-actively support and work collaboratively with health colleagues to ensure people receive the required health and social care support within the community, are discharged from hospital within agreed time-frames with appropriate support mechanism in place, prevent hospital admission and pro-actively work with the principles of admission avoidance
  • Will undertake OT specialist assessments and provide the support planning elements of social care needs are identified for people and their carers
  • Use expert knowledge and skills to develop and advice on rehabilitation plans, promoting choice and independence, as well as advising on the need of adaptations which will promote the independence of disabled people
  • Support service users and their carers during assessments, supporting planning and review to identify and purchase aids, assisted technology and adaptations and to fit, adjust and demonstrate their use within the persons home where appropriate
  • Take the lead in representing your team in working groups to develop services and practice improvements
  • Provide a wide range of information and advice to people in order to promote independence in the community
  • Support, mentor and supervise newly-qualified staff, junior staff and unqualified staff within the team
  • Keep up to date with the current legislative, professional and good practise initiatives, accurately interpreting the application of relevant policies and procedures.


  • Professional occupational therapy qualification as recognised by the HCPC
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Experience of supervising staff
  • Minimum of 2 years occupational therapy practice experience

This is a Temporary role but could possibly become permanent
