Access to Records Officer – £17P/H

Our client based in North London are currently recruiting an Access to Records Officer to provide access to records for ex-service users who have requested access to their social services records under the Data Protection Act.

Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Reading Children’s Social Care files and deciding what information can be shared with the applicant and what needs to be withheld
  • Following access to records procedure and working within the statutory framework of the 1998 Data Protection Act and data security policy
  • Building a relationship with applicants so that discussions can take place about what information they require and what they already know about their histories
  • Ensuring that all relevant third party consents and identification information are received before disclosing information
  • Undertaking risk assessments to identify possible risk to client and staff when facilitating a client’s access to their files
  • Where required, to sit with the applicant as they go through their records and to try to address any questions or concerns the applicant may raise
  • Consulting with the line manager and colleagues when there is uncertainty about what information should be shared
  • Seek legal advice when required and alert the manager to possible complaints
  • Record and update work activity on the Access to Record recording systems
  • Ensure any allegations of abuse or neglect made as a result of the access to records process are appropriately referred on and dealt with

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Enhanced DBS
  • Must have redaction experience under GDPR 2018 – This is non-negotiable
  • Ability to prioritise work
  • Ability to work alone
  • Experience of dealing working under pressure

This is a Temporary role but could possibly become permanent
